My Story
I was never that kid who knew what they wanted to do in life. I always had loads interests but never really knew what to do in terms of my future. Never could I see farther ahead than next week. In high school I studied Architecture & indoor architect and as I was nearing my final year I was conflicted with the age-old question: What's next? I could go on and continue studying architecture, but my interest for architectural design was limited. It's a wealthy future, but my interests in the field weren't my passion. So you can imagine my father's reaction when I told him I didn't want to continue building a wealthy future as an architect anymore. That's when I found out about this Japanese philosophy called Ikigai. It means that you'll only be happy and feel satisfied with life if you fill your days full of passion, mission, calling and make it your profession. So I asked myself what my Ikigai was. I always liked writing stories of all different kinds of genres, watch all different kinds of animated films and TV shows and the idea of entertaining people whilst making art has always brought a big smile upon my face. And thus I enrolled at LUCA School of Arts, started my adventure in the field of animation and the rest is history.
Some More About Me
Besides being an animator (or "animist" as my professor once said), I also like to experiment. Most artist have their signature art-style, yet I was never able to keep a consistent style going so I stopped bothering. Instead I prefer observing and practising new things. I like trying my hand on new things. In my bachelor's report I wrote about why visuals matter and how they can create different effects for the viewer. In terms of art forms, venturing all of them and experiencing them at least once is a goal for me as I can appreciate 2D, 3D, stop-motion, digital, cell animation, etc. all the same.
As I stated earlier, I have a lot of interests besides animation too. Architecture and perspectives are still one of them, but so is cosplay, video games, image and video editing software, active conversations such as race and gender, foreign cultures, AMVs and a whole lot more. In short; I'm in dire need of a hobby...
Still, it would be a delight to incorporate all of my interests into my passion for animation in one way or another. Although the road ahead is big and scary and the path I already have walked has given me experience, I have no intend on slowing down any time soon.
